Ken & Lisa's Special Hero's of Area 17
Special Hero's
Special Olympic Oath:
Let Me Win,
But If I Cannot Win,
Let Me Be Brave In The Attempt.
Hello,
My name is Ken. I would like to tell you
a little bit of what I know about Special
Olympics. My wife Lisa is a coach for
Area 17 here in central Arkansas.
Many hours of her own time is devoted
each week to work with these athletes.
There are many people today who don't
realize how good they have it until they
see for themselves.
Athletes that work there hearts out to achieve their goals in winning.
Special Olympics is a year around training and athletic competition in a variety of
Olympic type sports for all children and adults with mental retardation. It gives them
continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience
joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skill and friendship with their families, other
Special Olympics athletes and the community. Area 17 Special Olympics Arkansas
consist of Faulkner, Van Buren, Pope, Conway, and Perry Counties.
